The biggest ideas often sound strange at the start.
Throughout history, the most transformative innovations were dismissed as impossible, silly, or too early — until they weren’t.
At Strange Review, we track these ideas at the edge of technology, design, and intelligence.
Every Wednesday, we publish a Design Pattern: a new behavior or interface emerging in AI-native products, revealing how software is being reshaped in real time.
Every Friday, we share a Field Note: a deeper essay on the future of computing, creativity, and the strange edges of what’s coming next.
This is our take on design-first intelligence on deep tech, written for founders, inventors, and those building the future
Strange was founded by Tara Tan, an investor and designer based in San Francisco, building upon a decade of building and backing deep tech startups. Strange Ventures is a first-check venture firm investing in inventor-founders working on breakthrough technologies in the future of computing.
Prior to Strange, she was General Partner at IDEO Ventures, and held operating roles in design, product, and GTM at deep tech startups.
In a previous life, she created large-scale interactive installations that toured the world, and was a journalist at a national newspaper. She holds a Masters in Computational Design from Harvard. You can reach her at tara [at] strangevc.com.
